Vineyard Notes
2010 Coonawarra vintage was not only as one of the earliest, it was one of the best. The combination of a warm spring and warmer and drier conditions during veraison were conducive to an early harvest, almost two weeks earlier yet at optimum maturities. The wines show good fruit aromatics, wonderful depth of flavours, excellent colour with soft tannins.
Production Notes
Oak maturation for 30 months in a combination of French and American small oak Barriques. Approx. 56% were new French barrels and 6% new American barrels with the remainder being one and two year old barrels.
Winemaker Notes
An intricately layered and complex array of oak maturation and ripe fruit aromas. Hints of mocha and roast coffee bean laced with vanilla overlay ripe plum & subtle mulberry fruit. A richly laden palate of oak and ripe fruit flavours smoothly interwoven with extended oak maturation. Dark berry fruits, hints of plum and dusty mulberry with subtle vanilla, mocha and chocolaty oak flavours are complemented by fine grained tannins.
Food Pairing Notes
Slow-cooked beef ragout and roast duck, served with a rich reduction.

Woo hoo tasted this at the cellar door last weekend - it's going to be one to buy and put down for at least 10 years for the full complexity to come through. That said if you cannot wait it is drinking well now and will just keep getting better. If you are looking for a birth year wine and have the facility to store it well then you might want to consider this in your choices.

Had a 1996 Odyssey last night. Absolutely beautiful and not past it. Rarely have I had a wine so perfectly integrated. The balance was superb. 20 yrs old! Now only 5 left.
