Katnook Estate Chardonnay Brut 2009
An aperitif style, to be enjoyed chilled. Partner antipasto or freshly shucked oysters.
Chardonnay Pinot Noir
Feb. 24th - April 6th 2009
3 to 5 years
The 2009 vintage was preceded by a warm spell, however the healthy canopies shielded the fruit. Cool to mild temperatures and dry conditions followed, providing a long slow ripening period and optimum ripeness.
During primary fermentation, the blending of 14% reserve wine, 10% Pinot Noir and 3% Pinot Meunier aged in old French barrels, adds texture and complexity to the fresh Chardonnay fruit flavours.
Fresh stone fruit and elegant pear flavours combine with subtle bready notes and yeastiness with a hint of toasty aged complexities. A delicate, yeasty and creamy texture and crisp finish.
Food Pairing Notes
An aperitif style, to be enjoyed chilled. Partner with a platter of antipasto or freshly shucked oysters, crab frittata rolls, cold duck wraps and gravalax salmon on blinis.
